The Rush Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Clinic was founded in 1984 by Dr. Gus A. "Sonny" Rush III, a third-generation Rush physician and the first orthopedic surgeon in the Rush family. Dr. Rush completed his orthopedic residency at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, LA, in 1984. Sports medicine was a new specialty, and arthroscopic surgery, at that time, was still experimental.
On returning to Meridian, Dr. Rush founded the Rush Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Clinic in 1984. Sensing a need for a sports medicine program, Dr. Rush and Rush Foundation Hospital founded the Rush Sports Medicine Team in 1987. Today, sports medicine is a major force pioneering new and better surgical and rehabilitation techniques for the advancement of orthopedic surgery.
For your convenience, laboratory, X-ray, MRI and rehabilitation facilities are all located within walking distance on the Rush campus.
